World Varsity Engineering Challenge 2015 is a challenge, opened to all undergraduate engineering students of all engineering disciplines around the world, designed to encourage participants to attend to current concerns, stimulate their innovation, and enhance global awareness so that they will become well-diverse engineers who can contribute something significant to the civilization. As comprehensive as its name, this competition challenges its participants to be good theoretically and practically.

To challenge the participants’ ability to design, build, and present their invention in a creative way, each group has to invent an appliance or equipment that meets the criteria of the invention which have been informed before the day of the challenge. A proposal of the invention must be submitted to us before a determined deadline to ensure that they are following the theme and criteria of the invention. All groups must finish their inventions before the day of the challenge and present them in front of the judges. All designs must follow the rules and criteria which are:

  • Novelty
The design must be exclusive, in other words unique and one of a kind. The idea of the invention must be unpredictable and original. Teams are required to develop their own creative and innovative novel approaches of inventing the product and assure the judges that their ideas are out of the ordinary.
  • Energy saving
The invention must not be power consuming and less energy-dependent. This applies the savings in the consumption of energy while still maintaining the same performance or improving it.
  • Cost-Effective
Budget is efficiently utilized. Low cost alternatives are applied without compromising the performance or quality of the product.
  • Society needs
Society needs an invention that is useful and can benefit them in many ways.
  • Marketability
A measure of the ability of a good to be bought and sold.
